Specialized Acne Treatments
Acne is a chronic inflammatory disease of the oil glands which excrete oil through the hair follicle pores. Playing a big role in this disease is the increase of the androgen hormones that trigger the oil glands to produce more oil. The pores become clogged and infected with bacteria causing it to become swollen and even painful. With all these facts in mind we have taken a unique approach to our acne treatments by combining special formulations of vitamins, organic acids, salicylic acid and zinc. This synergistic approach has proven to be highly effective while killing the bacteria and inhibiting the androgen hormones. Your clinical skin care therapist will consult, analyze and prescribe a treatment plan along with a home care regime for optimal results. Skin Conditioning Acne Treatment. This treatment is designed for clients that have one or more stages of acne. Other symptoms might be oily but dehydrated red and sensitive skin that requires calming and healing before starting any aggressive treatments.

About Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a skin rejuvenation method used to treat acne scarring, sun damage, blemishes, uneven pigmentation, enlarged pores, blackheads, stretch marks, and fine lines and age spots from around the eyes, lips, neck and hands. This simple, quick and convenient treatment has become very popular with patients showing the early signs of aging, sun exposure and other facial imperfections.

Microdermabrasion is a minor in-office procedure in which the surface epithelium is gently exfoliated. It is much gentler than laser skin resurfacing procedures, and is not intended to treat the deeper wrinkles and scars that the laser procedures will effectively treat. What it can do is reduce fine lines and wrinkles, minimize blemishes and pigmented skin lesions due to sun damage, reduce open pore sizes, minimize acne scars, and eliminate white- and blackheads. Non-invasive and harmless to the skin's surface, the procedure entails virtually no discomfort, down time or recovery. Patients typically experience some redness for about an hour after the procedure.

For best results, most patients need one treatment every one to two weeks for six sessions, followed by one treatment every month for maintenance. Most patients notice an improvement in the smooth quality and tightness of their skin after just a few treatments. Microdermabrasion should not be considered as a replacement to laser skin-resurfacing procedures, but rather, should be thought of as an effective maintenance treatment that will enhance the results of periodic comprehensive skin re-surfacing and rejuvenation services.

What Results Can I Expect?
Most patients notice an improvement in their skin's appearance, regardless of their skin condition. Fine lines and age spots may be erased, and many patients report that their skin is softer, smoother, and younger-looking.

What is a Microdermabrasion Treatment Like?
Microdermabrasion is a superficial skin polishing without the use of chemicals, lasers or acids. It uses a delicate suction device (called a microdermabrader, as you might have guessed) to gently sand off surface layers of skin with micro-crystals that are vacuumed away with dead skin cells. The removal of these surface layers results in the increased circulation, reduction of fine lines, and smoother skin texture and color.

Some patients describe a slight stinging sensation during treatment, but the discomfort is minimal and anesthesia is not necessary.

How Long do Treatments Take?
Microdermabrasion treatments enhance your skin's appearance through a course of consecutive sessions and a home care maintenance program. The number and frequency of recommended treatments will be determined after custom skin analysis to identify the skincare services appropriate for your skin type. Also, Microdermabrasion treatments are almost always done in conjunction with a clinical skin care facial treatment. This will minimize any irritation and have a synergistic effect on the skin. The facial treatment usually lasts from 60-90 minutes depending on the type of treatment. Microdermabrasion can be done by itself, but at Light Care Medical Spa we believe best results are achieved with a multi-faceted approach. We offer a personalized home care program to help maintain lasting results.

How Soon Will I See Results?
After your first treatment, your skin will have a fresh pink glow. You'll walk away with a brighter, smoother, fresher looking skin - with very little redness, and no healing time. Improvement continues throughout your treatment program.

After Care:
Following treatment, the skin may appear slightly pinkish for approximately 24 to 48 hours. You will be advised on post-treatment care. It is important to drink plenty of water and to keep the skin well moisturized and protected with sunscreen.
